Philosophical foundations and criticism of scientism

Scientism is the view that the limits of the applicability of the methods of science should be expanded to include all disciplines for the acquisition of knowledge. Accordingly, the scientific method is the only reliable way to gain knowledge about ourselves and the world. Therefore, the scientific method should be regarded as the only method of acquiring knowledge in all fields of human cognition, and all questions about human existence should be answered through science. In this study, scientism is philosophically analysed to determine what it is and its kinds, and it is criticised based on the epistemology of science and rationality. In this respect, due to the lack of certainty of scientific knowledge it is emphasised that the criticality and scepticism about scientific results should be maintained and the fallacy of scientistic expansionism and the use of science as an ideology.
