"İhtisar" as a hadith concept (As an example of Sahîh al-Bukhârî Kitab al-salât)

"İhtisar" and "Takti" methods have an enormous significance in traditional hadith narration works. The history of Hadith shows that method of "İhtisar" is widely used in hadith literatures, narrative inscriptions, works of method and most importantly in hadith texts for numerous motives. In this respect, besides providing a great deal of convenience to the authors, the İhtisar might lead to a misinterpretation of an author who used it in his works being oblivious of its method. At the same time, if the extended parts of a narration are not evaluated comprehensively, it could be misunderstood by the incompetent people. For this reason, it is important to determine the exact part that the author penned down in his work. The study is based on the concise narrations of the Salât section of Bukhari's work called al-Câmiu's-sahîh and the long parts of the hadith is assessed from exerted terms of Ibn Hajar's Fethu'l-bârî and Bedrüddîn al-Aynî's commentary works called Umdetü'l-karîh. It also considers the methods of relevant literatures.
