Abstract (EN)
In this study proverbs and idioms used in the Bitlis region have been investigated in terms of thematic. These cultural components have been written down as they compiled from the local dialect. This study consists of two parts. In the first part, general information about the history of Bitlis has been given by using the sources related to proverbs and idioms. Compiled proverbs and idioms have been given with both transcripts and meanings. In the second part, proverbs and idioms have been classified in terms of thematic. Unknown words originated from phonetic differences and using foreign words have been given in this part by creating a dictionary.
