Comparison of firms' financial performances in energy sector traded in Borsa İstanbul with AHP-based TOPSIS method

In this study, financial performances of energy companies that are traded in Borsa Istanbul are worked through due to the importance of the energy sector in our country and in the world. The financial ratios of ten energy companies were calculated for each year by using balance sheet and income statements for the period of 2012 – 2018. Nine different ratios were used. These are; current ratio, cash ratio, stockholder's equity / real assets, return on assets, net profit margin, return on equity, accounts receivable turnover, asset turnover, financial expense / net sales. First of all, the relative importance of the criteria was determined with AHP which is one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods. After that, the companies ranked and evaluated according to their financial performance with TOPSIS method.
