Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to describe the views of divorced parents about their experiences of co-parenting with their ex-spouses, to reveal their perceptions of co-parenting efficacy, and to identify suggestions for studies that are needed in this regard. In the study, in which interview, one of the qualitative research methods, was used, 26 participants, 19 women and 7 men, from different provinces, with different socio-economic and educational levels, took part. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data collected through semi-structured interviews. As a result of the research, it was found that divorced parents who were able to create a common language after the divorce could make common decisions about their children, communicate effectively, meet for common purposes in raising children, share tasks and responsibilities, support each other by confirming their parenting skills, and meet in common decision by considering the benefit of the child despite personal and cultural differences. It has been observed that joint decision making has positive psychological reflections on themselves, their children and their parenting relationships. It was observed that divorced parents who could not form a common language after the divorce had difficulty in making common decisions about their children, they had conflicting communication, they had different attitudes and priorities in raising children, there was no sharing of duties and responsibilities, and they could not make common decisions by disapproving and weakening each other's parenting skills. It is seen that the parents who failed to establish a common language before the divorce could not establish a common language after the divorce. Keywords: Co-Parenting, Divorce, Partnership, parent-child relationship, family system
