History of Burdur educational institutions (1850-1950)

The purpose of this study is to examine the education history of Burdur within the framework of scientific methods and under certain title. The works which examined and described the education history of Burdur has not chronology and they don't describe it systematically. In addition, the pupose of this study is to eliminate the deficiencies of education history of Burdur and contribute subsequent studies. The method followed in this study is to examine mainly the archive documents ,determined first-hand resources and handling the subjects in chronological order and scanning the other resources. While investigating education history of Burdur, the changes that have occured in education from 1850 to 1950 have been examined in the light of Turkish history of education in order to eliminate the deficiencies in education. Education in Burdur has gained momentum especially after announcement of the Republic in Turkey. The number of students, educational institutions, and teachers have been determined in Burdur between 1850 and 1950.
