Evaluation of burdur fattening cattle's general structure and biosecurity

This study is carried out in order to reveal the current situation of the fattening enterprises and to produce solution suggestions based on the data of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry regarding the livestock activities in Burdur Province. For this purpose, the enterprises that are members of the Red Meat Producers Union in various districts and the beef cattle raised in these enterprises were used as materials. A questionnaire form consisting of 60 questions was prepared to obtain the research findings. Each questionnaire was conducted on the premises by interviewing the business owner face to face. The answers to these questions were evaluated with frequency analysis and presented as research findings. With the help of the prepared questionnaire, information that defines the enterprises on subjects such as the training status of the breeders, shelter characteristics, feed sources, biosecurity rules was obtained. It has been determined that the majority of the owners of the enterprises surveyed have been breeding livestock for a long time and they are insufficient to participate in the livestock training during this period. It has been observed that the education level of the livestock owners is low. In this case, it is seen that livestock activities do not have a scientific basis. In some of the holdings with animals of a wide variety of ages and races, all animals were found to coexist. While some of the enterprises declared that they cleaned it at short intervals, it was observed that the floor was quite dirty in the enterprises, which stated that they did this job with automatic scrapers.
