The relationship between social anxiety levels and empathic trends of the ergens with nuclear family and single parent family and sociotherapy

The aim of the current research is to measure the level of social anxiety and empathic tendencies between adolescents who have nuclear family and adolescents who have single-parent family. Family is the most important institution which affects cognitive, affective, spiritual, physical and social development of individuals within their life course from birth till death. As individual has a lifecycle, family has also a lifecycle and according to the situation of subsystems in family systems, there are different kind of families within this cycle. Single-parent families can be constituted as a result of the loss of a member within family or the termination of a marriage in parent subsystem. In the study, the Relational Scanning Model- one of the quantitative methods- was used. Research sample is consists of 380 9th and 10th grade adolescents who have education in high schools under the Ministry of Education in the academic year of 2018-2019. Those adolescents' 143 of them have single-parent families and 237 of them have nuclear families. The method of data collection is composed of 'Adolescent Interview Scale' prepared by the researcher in order to assess socio-economic features of adolescents; Social Anxiety for Adolescents (SAS-A) which its validity and reliability verification conducted by Aydın ve Sütçü (2007); and KA-Sİ Empathic Tendency Scale which its verification of validity and reliability made by Kaya ve Siyez (2010) were used. The results of the study are; there is a significant relationship between gender, the type of the school adolescents have education, father's employment status and the emphatic level of adolescents'; between receiving psychological support, their father's employment status, the experiences of migration and the level of social anxiety of adolescents' were found and finally there is also a significant relationship between adolescents' pocket money and the situation of family were obtained (p< 0,05). According to the results of the study, positive (r = ,09) but weak and unsignificant (P = ,065 > 0,05) relationship were found between emphatic tendenies of adolescents and the level of social anxiety. The results of the study contain important findings for the areas of Social Services. Within the frame of results obtained by the current research, these findings shows the necessities and requirements of the applicant systems for the area of child's and adolescent's welfare and families in the area of social service and also demonstrate in individuals' need of the social work intervention.
