The comparison of the life satisfaction with the level of hopelessness and learned resourcefulness of the adolescents in juvenil prison and the adolescents live with their family

The aim of this research is to specify the relation between life satisfaction and level of hopelessness and learned resourcefulness of the adolescents in juvenile prison and the adolescents live with their families. General universe of this study consists of 9th, 10th and 11th grade students as of 100 males in the age range of 16-18 who are studying in the Ahi Evran Trade Vocational Anatolian High School situated in the borders of Istanbul province and 100 males in the age range of 16-18 who are staying in Maltepe Children and Juvenile Penal Institution. In this study; some information about independent variables were collected through personal information form developed by researcher for the purpose of collecting the data related to adolescents. In this study, so as to determine the hopelessness levels of the adolescents, it is used the Beck Hopelessness Scale (BUO) developed by Beck et al. (1974), and adapted to Turkish by Seber (1991). So as to determine the learned resourcefulness levels, it is used the Rosenbaum Learned Resourcefulness Scale (ROGO) developed by Rosenbaum (1980) and adapted to Turkish by Dağ (1991). So as to determine life satisfaction levels, it is used the Diener Life Satisfaction Scale (YDO) developed by Diener, Emmons, Laresen and Griffin (1985) and adapted to Turkish by Koker (1991). In this research, SPSS 12-package program was used in analyzing the data obtained through the personal information form and the scales from 200 adolescents in age range of 16-18. In consequence of this research, it is observed that there is a positively meaningful relation between learned resourcefulness and life satisfaction of adolescents in age range of 16-18. There is a negatively meaningful relation between learned resourcefulness and hopelessness. There is a negatively meaningful relation at low-level between life satisfaction and hopelessness.
