Abstract (EN)

Objective: In this study, it is aimed to compare university students with high childhood trauma scale scores and university students with low scale scores in terms of the frequency of psychosomatic symptoms and difficulty in emotion regulation. Method: The sample group consists of 300 university students studying in the city center of Istanbul. 104 women and 79 men with low childhood trauma scale scores; A total of 300 participants, 63 females and 54 males, with high childhood trauma scale scores were included. In this study, in addition to the Demographic Information Form, the Childhood Mental Trauma Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale-Psychosomatic Symptoms Sub-Scale and Emotion Regulation Difficulty Scale were applied to the participants as a data collection tool. Findings:It is observed that individuals with high childhood trauma scale scores have more psychosomatic symptoms. It is observed that difficulty in emotion regulation is higher in individuals with high childhood trauma scale scores compared to individuals with low childhood trauma scale scores. It has been observed that individuals with higher childhood trauma scale scores have higher trauma in males than females. Individuals with high childhood trauma scale scores have higher emotional regulation difficulties in males than females. In individuals with high childhood trauma scale scores, it is observed that the frequency of psychosomatic symptoms is higher in men than in women. A moderate positive correlation was found between childhood trauma and the frequency of psychosomatic symptoms in individuals with high childhood trauma scale scores. It is observed that as the score from childhood trauma increases, the frequency of psychosomatic symptoms increases. In individuals with high childhood trauma scale scores and low childhood trauma scale scores, it is observed that there is a significant positive relationship between childhood trauma and emotional regulation difficulties. The higher the score from childhood trauma, the higher the difficulty in emotion regulation. Keywords:Childhood, Trauma, Psychosomatic, Emotionregulation
