The effect of childhood trauma on marital satisfaction: The mediator role of early maladaptive schemas

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine how childhood trauma affects marital satisfaction on adulthood and whether early maladaptive schemas have an mediator role or not. The participants of the research are married heterosexual men and women living in different provinces of Turkey. Total number of participants is 304, and it consists of 180 women (59,2%) and 124 men (40,8%). In the research, volunteers between the ages of 23 and 69 were asked to approve the Informed Consent Form. Afterwards, they were asked to respond to Socio-demographic Data Sheet, Adverse Childhood Experiences Scale, Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form 3 and Golombok-Rust Inventory of Marital State. Also, SPSS.22 (Statistical Package of Social Sciences) was used in the analysis of the data obtained as a result of the research. According to research results, childhood trauma has a direct impact on marital satisfaction, and indirect impact on YSQ and MCQ-30.
