Burnout level of female health workers in the COVID-19 pandemic

This study aimed to measure the burnout levels of female health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and to evaluate the effects of the pandemic in the light of the data obtained. The gradual spread of this pandemic virus, which threatens human health significantly, has caused a number of psychological conditions, ranging from fear, anxiety and fear of death, as well as creating an excessive workload on our healthcare professionals. In this period increasing physical and mental problems pushed healthcare workers under the burden they could not bear. Symptoms of burnout are loss of material and spiritual values, inability to overcome problems, depersonalization, feeling constantly unsuccessful, substance use disorder, depression and psychological disorders. These symptoms, if not noticed and avoided, can have serious consequences. In this study, it was aimed to examine the burnout levels of female healthcare providers working in the SBU Trabzon Ahi Evren Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital according to various characteristics. Therefore a questionnaire was applied to 184 female healthcare workers. In this study, it was tried to measure the burnout levels in the working environment together with the demographic structure of female healthcare workers. With the obtained data, it is aimed to alleviate the burnout levels of female healthcare workers. Therefore, this study will contribute directly to both emphasizing the importance of healthcare professionals in terms of institution and society and providing better service to patients.
