Abstract (EN)

This defining and cross-sectional type of research was aimed at evaluating the perception of the presence of the nurse in patients treated in the hospital with the diagnosis of Covid-19. The research was conducted at Istanbul Education and Research Hospital between 15 February and 15 April. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 261 patients with a diagnosis of Covid-19 who were hospitalized.Datas of the research; Introductory Information Form was collected by using the and the Nurse Presence Scale. Statistical analyzes of the data were made by using a package program called SPSS (IBM SPSS Statistics 24). Non-parametric methods were used for measurement values that were not suitable for normal distribution in the analysis. In accordance with non-parametric methods, the "Mann-Whitney U" test (Z-table value) was used to compare the measurement values of two independent groups, and the "Kruskal-Wallis H" test (χ2-table value) method was used to compare the measurement values of three or more independent groups. Bonferroni correction has been applied for binary comparisons of variables that differ significantly for three or more groups. The "Spearman" correlation coefficient was used to examine the relationships of two quantitative variables that do not have normal distribution. The patient's perception of the presence of the nurse is 98.80±20.25 (28.0-120.0). The high satisfaction of the patients with nursing services during their previous hospitalization and the 8-9 day hospitalization period in the current hospitalization increased the perception of the presence of the nurse. The care skills of the patients, the strong interaction between the patient and the nurse helped them to have a comfortable day by making them feel high that they could be with them at every opportunity. It has been suggested to include this subject in nursing undergraduate education programs and in-service trainings in order to improve nurses' awareness of the way they recognize and present their own existence.
