The activities of the Republic Public Party in Konya (1923 - 1938)

After having won the National Struggle (independence war), there were swift settings and new establishments in the country. The Republican Puplic Party is one of the establishments which were created. The Republican Puplic Party was formed by Mustafa Kemal Pasha on 9th of September, 1923 on the principles of populism for the purpase of representing all the people. The party, which was established with a ready floor by taking the Community of Defense of Law's organizations in its structure, became a very great political organization throughout its rulership spreading out its organizing country – wide. At the beginning, Governors were ruling the mission of the head of the city. But later, the member's of the party took over this mission. People in Konya proclaimed their opinions and thoughts freely and demanded economical, social and administrative wishes which would provide the city's developing in the congresses that they attended. These wishes were considered important by the government owing to the historical identity of Konya. People of Konya always chose the agricultural activities as the most economical action for itself on account of its geographical features. For this reason, ıssues about the agriculture became the main wish of the Konya's people's reguest. In addition to agricultural wishes, the reguest of the city like education, health and build up were told to the RPP rule. But the reguests and wishes of the city were not carried out so quickly, as, that time, newly ending the independent war and economical structure wasn't proper and adeguate. But anyway, it was worked to provide people's needs and strained at solving the puplic's proplems.
