Abstract (EN)
This study was planned to examine the Turkish cultural adaptation, validity and reliability of Addenbrooke's Cognitive Assessment-III (ACE-III-Tr) in individuals with dementia. The study involved 111 individuals with a diagnosis of dementia, a mean age of 73.89±7.10 years. Individuals with a diagnosis of dementia who were at the most stage 4 according to the Reisberg Global Impairment Scale were taken as inclusion criteria. The construct validity of the scale was examined with Confirmatory Factor Analysis and goodness of fit index values. As a result of the statistical analyzes, the statistical significance of the factor loads and the goodness of fit indices showed acceptable and good fit levels support the structural validity of the factor model of the ACE-III-Tr scale, which consists of 5 sub-dimensions. Criterion validity was examined using the Mini Mental State Test (MMDT) and Rapid Cognitive Assessment Battery (Qmci-TR) scales. The positive correlation between the ACE-III-Tr scale and the MMDT and Qmci-TR scales showed that the scale had criterion validity. Reliability of the ACE-III-Tr scale was examined with internal consistency and test-retest reliability analyzes. The Cronbach Alpha coefficient of the ACE-III-Tr scale was 0.884 and the McDonald's ω coefficient was 0.904. Test-retest reliability of the ACE-III-Tr scale was evaluated with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The test-retest mean scores obtained from the scale total are respectively; It was found to be 51.32±13.94 (22-72) and 51.08±14.05 (20-71). The correlation coefficient between the scale results obtained at two different times was determined to be 0.982 (p<0,001). These results indicate that the ACE-III-Tr scale has high internal consistency reliability and time invariance. In line with the information obtained from our study, it was concluded that the ACE-III-Tr scale is a valid and reliable tool to evaluate the cognitive status of individuals with dementia and it is suitable for use in both clinical and research settings.
