Abstract (EN)

Objective: It was aimed to reveal the ratios of platelet indices and platelet count as an indicator of the coagulation and immunity profiles of neonatal calves with experimental endotoxemia. Materials and Methods: The animal material of the study consisted of 6 healthy male Holstein calves between the ages of 1-4 weeks. Endotoxemia was induced by dissolving LPS (E.coli 0111:B4; Sigma) at a dose of 1 µg/kg in 100 ml of 0.9% NaCl solution and administered intravenously in 5 minutes. Sampling was performed before the LPS application (0. hour) and at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 24 and 48 hours after the application. Hematological parameters, thrombocyte indices, coagulation profile and rates of thrombocyte count were evaluated. Results: After LPS application, while mean WBC (p<0.001), LYM (p<0.001), PLT (p<0.001), PCT (p<0.001) values decreased, aPTT (p<0.01), PT (p<0, 01) and FIB (p<0.05) values were increased. It was determined that the changes in RDWc, MPV and PDWc values were not significant. The increase and subsequent decrease in mean PLT/WBC, PLT/LYM values, and increase in RDWc/PLT, MPV/PLT, aPTT/PLT, PT/PLT values (p<0.001) and mean FIB/PLT values (p<0.01) ) significant difference was found in the increase. Conclusion: It was revealed that platelet indexes, hematological parameters, coagulation profile and platelet count ratios can vary at different levels in neonatal calves with experimental endotoxemia. It is thought that the results may be useful for new research on this subject.
