Abstract (EN)
In the harvesting process of the stumpage sales, where the trees are sold while they are still standing and the actual harvest and transportation costs belonging to the buyer. This study was carried out to investigate how cutting, extraction, loading and transport operations and whether they were different from the conventional harvesting process. Purpose of the study is to analyze which works and transactions take place in the organizational and operational process of harvesting activities in the compartments of stumpage sales and to evaluate by comparing them with conventional methods. To analyze the stumpage sales, data and information were compiled by referring to sources such as legislation, documentation, literature, office observations, field surveys, personal communication, conversation, and professional experiences. Alanya Forest Management Directorate has been determined as the working area and in 3 compartments; harvest operations in the field and operation follow-up in the office were carried out. As result, it was observed that the product range was adjusted according to the buyer's directives, and mostly the debarking stage was removed from the harvesting process. It has been observed that the tree stem that were cut into lengths without complying with the standards were removed from the compartment as soon as possible, and the wood products clustered in the compartment were rubbed from top to bottom by using tractors and/or excavators and were sold and transported to third party customers without waiting. In stumpage sales, the working time is limited and shorter than the conventional method, fewer but skilled workers are preferred, employees are insured, controls regarding reducing environmental impacts are provided within the scope of the legislation, auctioned stumpage sales can be used in both final cutting and tending compartments, the total duration of the harvesting process and work steps are shortened, the actual costs are loaded on the buyer, and the works and processes of warehousing, loading and transporting from the cutting compartment are avoided. Thus, stumpage sales offer advantages in terms of personnel in forest administrations, buyers and third-party customers; however, it was understood that the same advantages could not be reached for forest villagers.
