Abstract (EN)

Definition of Intractable epilepsia is that the children were followed for epilepsia for to years and they were given three or more antiepileptic in combination or separately. However; although effective serum concentration was achieved, they had seizures in three months and they who have least one seizure in every month were accepted as intractable epilepsia patients. Family life quality and quality of children is reduced by this situation also economic of the Turkey is responsible againts the situation. Even if in today's world improvement of epilepsia can not be prevented, the risk factors will be diagnose early and it is too significant that the protective precations can be taken immediately, besides, alternative treatments can be developed by experts. The aim of this study was to define the risk factors of the intractable epilepsia patients who admitted to Celal Bayar University of Medicine Department Pediatric Neurology Policlinic between 01.01.2010 and 31.12.2015 The data were obtained from the records of the epilepsia patients who were followed up at least for one year in the Celal Bayar University of Medicine Department Pediatric Neurology Policlinic between 01.01.2010 and 31.12.2015 Two patient group such as intractable group and who are not intractable were included in the study. There were total 2200 patients whom 61 were in intractable group, 180 were in group who are not intractable. There were 111 female (%46,1),130 male (%53,9). While the average age of intractable epilepsia group is 7.00 (± 4,36), the average age of the group who are not intractable epilepsia is 7.18 (± 4.51). The epilepsia diagnosis of the patient were 1-18 years (mean 7.13 (± 4.47). When we study observe in terms of risk factors, according to both of two group, starting to first seizures ages is more prevalent between age of 0-1 years. 35 (%57,4) male who are intractable epilepsia, 26 (%42,6) female who are intractable epilepsia. While 95 (%52,8) 95 male who are not intractable epilepsia, 85 (%47,2) female who are not intractable epilepsia. The existence of this risk factors should be checked attentively. Even if improvement epilepsia can not be prevented by experts, epileptic children ought to be directed to Pediatric Neurology Policlinic for following and treatment. Experts should study over patients who have risk in terms of intractable epilepsia. These provide experts to recognize epileptogenesis and develope new treatments.
