Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study; To determine whether trunk control has an effect on gait in children with dyskinetic cerebral palsy (CP). The study included 21 children (n=21), 11 boys, 10 girls, diagnosed with dyskinetic CP, who received active treatment in Special Education and Rehabilitation Centers in Gaziantep under the PTR department of Sanko University. The study was conducted by a physiotherapist with 5 years of experience in pediatric rehabilitation. Each child was held in the same environment under the same conditions. Among the participants in the study, the average age of those aged 4-6 years was 4 years, the average age of the children in the 6-8 age group was 8, and the average age of the children aged 12-18 was determined as 9. The minimum value of MASH measurements of the lower extremity muscles of the children was measured as 1 and the maximum value as 3. The median value of MASH measurements was 1.6 for hip flexors; 1.4 for hip extensors; 1.4 for gluteus medius; 1.4 for the tibialis anterior; For gastro, it was determined as 1.6. Among children, 11 children at KMFSS 1 level, 6 children at KMFSS 2 level and 4 children at KMFSS 3 were included. Personal information form including demographic characteristics of children, Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFSS) evaluating gross motor function levels, Modified Ashworth Scale (MASH) for spasticity assessment of lower extremity muscles, Trunk Control Measurement Scale (GPS) for trunk control were used. Gillette Functional Gait Assessment Questionnaire (GFYDA) was used to evaluate gait function. The relationship between the participants' KMFSS and age was shown graphically. SPSS-24 program was used for statistical analysis. No correlation was found between GKÖS and GFYDA (-0.319). As a result of the study, it was determined that trunk control and walking were not associated with dyskinetic children (p>0.05) Keywords: Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy; Trunk Control; Gait.
