Abstract (EN)
The Impact of Paraoxonase and Arylesterase Enzymes on Differental Phase of Discenored Cyclus on Oxidant / Antioxidant Capacity and Activity Objective: Dysmenorrhea is a symptomatic disease that is very common in the reproductive period and can cause loss of labor and time. The etiopathogenesis of dysmenorrhea is still unclear. We tried to investigate serum PON, SPON, ARES levels considering oxidative stress may play a role in pathogenesis. Materials and Methods: 38 patients between the ages of 18-49, who voluntarily applied for Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Atatürk Training and Research Hospital between 01.11.2018-01.05.2019, participated in the study. A total of 59 participants with 21 control groups were included in the study. Blood samples were taken from the patients included in the study group and volunteer participants for the control group after eight hours of fasting. Serum was separated by centrifugation at 3200 rpm for 10 minutes in one hour. Serum samples with hemolysis were not included in the study. Blood samples were taken into pure tubes. Venous blood samples were collected and stored in Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Atatürk Training and Research Hospital Biochemistry Laboratory for storage of PON and Arylesterase levels at -80C. At the time of the study, all serum samples were brought to room temperature and then studied in the biochemistry laboratory. IBM SPSS Statistics 20 program was used for the estimation of the data, and p <0.05 was accepted as the statistical significance limit. Results: There was no difference in demographic characteristics (BMI, parity, marital status) of the patient and control groups (p> 0.05). The mean age of the patient group was smaller than the control group (p <0.05). There was a difference between the education levels of the patient and control group women (p <0.001). While high school and university graduation rates are higher; women in the control group had higher graduate degrees. There was no difference between the two groups in terms of menarche and menstruation time (p> 0.05). The most common symptom of the women in the patient group was low back pain with 86.80%. The most commonly used method for the treatment of menstrual pain was drug use with 86.80%. Ares, Pon and Spon levels of the patients in the patient and control groups were not different in D3 and D21 (p> 0.05). There was no difference between ARES, PON and SPON levels measured in patients D3 and D21 (p> 0.05). There was no difference between ARES, PON and SPON values measured in D3 and D21 in the control group (p> 0.05). No significant correlation was found between the measurements in the D3 and D21 phases of the women in the patient group and patient age BMI and mens duration (p> 0.05). No correlation was found between patient age and BMI in the D3 and D21 phases in the control group (p> 0.05). There was a 52% negative correlation between D21 Pon level and menstrual period (p = 0.015). As mens time increases, pon value decreases. Conclusion: In our study, no statistically significant result was found between the antioxidant enzyme (PON, ARES, SPON) levels measured on the 3rd and 21st days of the menstrual cycle in the patient group. A similar result is valid for the control group. There was no significant difference between the enzyme levels of the patient and control groups on the third days of the menstrual cycle. Similar data are valid for the levels measured on the twenty-first day. This is the first study to investigate the cyclic-dependent oxidant / antioxidant balance of dysmenorrhea despite the presence of some limiting factors. The results of our data suggest that the antioxidant enzymes (PON, ARES, SPON) that we think were obtained independently from the cycle and not related to ischemia in dysmenorrhea suggest that the hypotheses to be put forward in this field should be different. In order to clearly demonstrate the relationship between dysmenorrhea and oxidative stress, extensive studies can be planned to investigate other components of the system.
