Abstract (EN)

Concepts attributed to the family are different from collecting from the society. While individuals face any crisis, they are the most important social support family in resolving these crises. Family members may have difficulty or fail to fulfill their functions due to crises that occur in the family. If one or more of the family functions fail, the family may be adversely affected. In the event of any chronic illness occurring in a member of the family, the family can be dragged into the crime. The diagnosis of the disease, the treatment process, the difficulty of adaptation to the disease, the acceptance of the disease, the differentiation of the continuing habits with the emergence of the disease, and the change of roles in the family together with the chronic diseases are crises. As a result of these crises with chronic illness, it will be more appropriate to evaluate individuals with chronic illness in terms of a holistic and systemic point of view, rather than alone, in order to minimize the negativity. In this study, the family functioning of dialysis patients who have chronic renal failure and who have to enter dialysis and spend a certain period of time on dialysis due to their illness will be examined according to some variables. The study's study group consisted of two special dialysis centers located in Ankara and 200 patients treated at the dialysis department of a university hospital. Personal information form and family assessment scale (FAD) were used as data collection tool in the research. According to the findings of the research; patients; variables related to marital status, number of children, economic status, working status, educational status, and presence of an individual with another chronic disease in family members differentiate family functioning. Keywords: Chronic kidney failure, dialysis, family function, family, medical social service.
