Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of the research is to examine the predictive factor of postpartum comfort on mothers' sense of security. Material and Methods: The research was conducted in a prospective, analytical-sectional type. The population of the study consisted of mothers who were hospitalized in the Nazilli State Hospital Obstetrics Departmant between April and December 2021 and gave birth by vaginal or cesarean section. A total of 400 mothers, who were selected by conviencing sampling from the sampling population, who met the inclusion criteria of the study, 200 cesarean section and 200 vaginal birth were included "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researchers in order to question the sociodemographic and obstetric characteristics of the mothers in data collection and "Postpartum Comfort Scale" (PPCS) and "Mothers Postpartum Sense of Security Scale" (MPSS) were used. Data; expressed with descriptive statistics (number, percentage), independent samples t test, correlation, multiple regression and chi-square analysis. Conclusion: The mothers participating in the study; the most 48,3% of them were secondary school graduates, 81.5% of them lived in the district center, their average age was 27.01±5.19. It was found that 71.3% of mothers wanted their last pregnancy and the average number of live births was 2.06±0.93. PPCS mean scores of the mothers participating in the study were examined; it was determined that the total comfort score average was 3.03±0.19, the physical comfort subscale was 3.38±0.29, the psychospiritual comfort subscale was 1.47±0.20, and the sociocultural comfort subscale was 4.02±0.34. MPSS total score average 65.82±6.63, reinforcing behaviors mean 22.28±3.18, general well-being 17.55±2.15, family loyalty mean score 15.28±1.78 and breastfeeding score mean was calculated 10.71±2.05. It was found that the total score of PPCS predicted the total score of MPSS by 16,6% (R 2 =0,166), and when the 12 scores from the psychospiritual and sociocultural comfort subscales were added, it increased to 31% (R 2 =0,310). Results: Comfort levels of mothers predict their sense of security after childbirth by 16,6%. When psychospiritual and sociocultural comfort is added to this, the prediction rate increases to 31%. It is important to provide midwifery care to ensure adequate comfort in increasing maternal and newborn health after birth. Keywords: Comfort, Midwifery, Postpartum period, Sense of security.
