Abstract (EN)

Aim: This study was conducted to examine the birth results and hormone levels of pregnant women who were released in terms of movement and position at birth, and pregnant women who were mostly bedridden with routine care and thus remained in a passive position. Material and Method: The experimental type planned research was carried out between 07.08.2019 and 01.07.2020. Data were collected at Uşak University Training and Research Hospital. A total of 90 women were included in the study. The women were randomly divided into three groups: the normal delivery table group, the vertical delivery table group, and the control group Results: Statistically significant differences were found in the vital signs, fetal heart rate and uterine contraction time of the participants. (p<0,05). Induction rate and mean VAS score in the control group were higher than in the case groups (p<0,01). The birth comfort and satisfaction scale scores of the women in the control group were found to be significantly lower than the women in both case groups (p<0,05). Postpartum oxytocin level was found to be statistically significantly higher in the vertical table group than in the control group (p<0,05). A decrease in prolactin levels was found in the control group (p<0,05). Conclusion: Freedom of movement and position (upright positions) in labor reduces the level of pain and the need for induction; It has been found that it increases birth comfort, birth satisfaction, postpartum oxytocin and prolactin hormone levels. In addition, it was determined that blood pressure was lower in women in the supine lithotomy position. In this study, it was observed that mothers were willing to use different positions at birth when they were informed and supported. Keywords: Birth, movement and position, hormones, midwifery
