Economic effects of migration waves from foreign countries to Turkey

Migration is a dynamic phenomenon that has existed since the beginning of human history. Over the years, people have migrated due to famine, natural disasters, wars and socio-economic reasons. These migrations have some positive and negative effects on both receiving and sending countries. Especially in mass migration movements, the size of these effects increases even more. In the study, it is aimed to determine the social, cultural and economic effects of external migrations to Turkey since the proclamation of the Republic by making a historical analysis. The study was organized by examining document review, literature review and statistical data. As a result of the study, it is observed that mass migration movements cause many sociological and economic effects in the short and long term to Turkey, which hosts the largest number of refugees in the world, and the costs of migration movements affect the socio-economic structure of the receiving country. In the context of the results obtained with this study, it is thought that it will contribute to the development policies and migration policies that will be formed in order to ensure that the effects that will occur in the future migration movements and the increase in the costs caused by migration are at a minimum level.
