Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to reveal the relationship between spiritual well-being and emotional eating behavior. The method of the research is in the correlational research model. 421 individuals (161 men, 291 women) participated in the study. Personal Information Form, Emotional Eating Scale, Spiritual Well-Being Scale were used as data collection tools in the study. Data were tested with t test for independent samples, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficient and simple linear regression analysis. According to the results of the analysis, a low-level negative significant relationship was found between spiritual well-being and emotional eating. According to the results of simple linear regression analysis, it is seen that spiritual well-being is a significant predictor of emotional eating. Another result of the study is that the emotional eating and spiritual well-being levels of individuals differed significantly according to their genders. Accordingly, it is seen that emotional eating and spiritual well-being scores of women are significantly higher than men. In addition, individuals' spiritual well-being did not differ significantly according to body mass index, while emotional eating levels differed significantly according to body mass index. There was no significant difference in emotional eating and spiritual well-being levels in terms of marital status of individuals. The results of the research were interpreted within the framework of the relevant literature and various suggestions were presented.
