Emotional intelligence and organizational stress: Nurses' emotional intelligence abilities and their methods of struggle with stress in the organizations

Individuals face the fact of emotional intelligence, which includes a lot of things on human being, in every area of their lives. Emotional intelligence decided about the decision and behaviors of individual in his/her private and business life. Emotional intelligence, which is evaluated as a "reaction", helps individual to direct his/her life. In particular, emotional intelligence is very valuable in people's live that they spend most their times in a day. Beside, individual is under the pressure of stress in business life as he/she feel the same in the private life. In the business life, that stress is called "organizational stress" and it is a great threat for organizations and employees at the same time. That is why there is a search for various stress factors. This master thesis researches nurses' emotional intelligence abilities with their methods of struggle with stress as a case study in the basis of the facts of emotional intelligence and organizational stress. For this purpose, in the last chapter of research, there is a survey and it was realized with 91 nurses, who joined survey as volunteers, in Istanbul Haseki Education and Research Hospital. The relationship between individuals' emotional intelligence abilities and their methods of struggle with stress was investigated in this survey and the results of survey were evaluated.
