Abstract (EN)

While intelligence is defined as the ability to solve problems, make decisions, learn and adapt to the environment, emotional intelligence is conceptualized as the ability to understand, use and manage one's own and others' emotions. Emotional intelligence accompanies the individual in every aspect of his life and guides his decisions and behaviors. Among these, emotional intelligence is of particular importance in terms of stress, which has an important place in business life. Because individuals with high emotional intelligence can manage their emotions more effectively, they can respond more positively and produce more effective, sustainable and healthy solutions when they are under stress or encounter a problem. The aim of this study is to empirically examine the relationship between the concept of emotional intelligence and coping with work stress in terms of bank employees. The research was carried out in the period of May-June 2021 with 115 participants working in the branches of a private bank in Trabzon. It has been determined that there is a strong relationship between the emotional intelligence level of the participant bank employees and their styles of coping with stress, however, the emotional intelligence levels of the participants predict their styles of coping with stress. Keywords: Intelligence, Emotional Intelligence, Coping with Stress, Job Stress, Bank.
