Abstract (EN)

In this study, marital problem-solving skills and self-understanding characteristics of the parents were examined in terms of some socio-demographic variables and the relationship between the problem skills of the parents in marriage and their self-understanding characteristics was investigated. Relational scanning model was used in the research. 110 parents whose children are educated in Private Halkalı Küçük Şeyler kindergarten living in Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul province participated in the study. Parents participating in the research are between the ages of 21 and over 45. In order to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants (gender, age, current marital status, education level, income level, duration of marriage, number of children) while collecting data in the study, the "Socio-demographic Information Form" was used to determine the problem solving scores in marriage. Solving Scale "and" Self-Understanding Scale "were used to determine the levels of Self-Comprehension. The analysis of the data obtained from the research was carried out using the Statistics Package Program for Social Sciences (SPSS 25). As a result of the research; A statistically and positively significant relationship was found between parents' marital problem solving and self-understanding. It was determined that as the marital problem-solving scores of the parents increased, their self-understanding scores also increased. Also; Parents' marital problem-solving skills and self-understanding characteristics were significantly higher in women than men, self-understanding characteristics differ significantly according to the age variable, and participants aged 36-45 had higher self-understanding scores, self-understanding levels compared to the marital status variable. It was found that there was a significant difference and the self-understanding scores of married participants were higher than single participants, and that participants with three or more children had higher marital problem-solving skill scores than participants with a single child. Keywords: Marriage, Problem Solving in Marriage, Self-Understanding
