Abstract (EN)

This master thesis will present the translation criticism on Turkish translations of Stefan Zweig's novella, "Angst". Initally, basic informations about the author and the translators will be given. Afterwards, four translations of Ercümend Ekrem Talu, Behçet Necatigil, Ilknur Igan and Burcu Uzunoğlu will be analyzed. These translations will first be separated into two phases, because the translation criticism will reshape according to the translation tendencies of the time period. The year that the translation was published will be considered while classifying. So, the first group will be the humanist era of 20th century (1940 - 1966), the second group will consist of the most recent translations of the 21st century. Afterwards, the translation criticism approach will accordingly be enlightened. Meanwhile, the translations within the eras will be compared with the source text. The purpose of this thesis is to form a translation critic through the source text and the four translations, yet the critics won't be labeled as 'right' or 'wrong' rather will reflect a general assessment.
