A review of the Arabic teaching series titled al-'Arabiyyatu li'l-câmi'at (Academic arabic) in terms of content and method

Arabic is the most preferred one among foreign languages taught as a second language in Turkey. The most important reason underlying the wanting learn this language is that it is the language of Islamic sources, especially the Qur'an. In order to teach Arabic, refered from various sources that determined in the faculties of Theology and Islamic Sciences and in the departments of Arabic Language and Literature and Translation and Interpreting departments of the Faculties of Arts and Sciences. At the same time, many Arabic teaching sets have been prepared by using various language teaching methods for teaching Arabic in Turkey. The Arabic teaching set called al-'Arabiyyetu li'l-Câmi'ât (Academic Arabic), written by Süleyman Kablan, is used as a textbook in many higher education institutions in Turkey. The aforementioned teaching set has taken care to use a that attaches importance to Arabic and Turkish culture while trying to provide to students primary, intermediate and advanced language skills in Arabic teaching. It has been prepared by considering the "helical structure system" which applied for the first time in this set, for those who want to learn Arabic and aims to be the best guide in every field of their language learning experience by minimizing the need for a tutor. The aforementioned teaching set was examined in terms of content and foreign language teaching method in this study. In this sense, this study -which consists of an introduction, three parts and a conclusion- generally aims to clarify the method, technique and approach used in foreign language teaching and the function of textbooks and auxiliary materials in language teaching. In addition, it is aimed to examine the content of the relevant teaching set and evaluating it in terms of Arabic teaching and determining its positive and negative aspects in terms of usability and making suggestions if it is necessary.
