Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between squat jump height and grab start performance in elite young male swimmers by increasing the height of the jump and increasing the start performance and aiming to get better results in the competitions. The study group has average age 15.50 ± 0.71 years, the average height 180.20 ± 3.61 cm, average weight 69.67 ± 6.29 kg of 15 male swimmers. The swimmers participating in the Turkey Swimming Championships swimmers in their age group and degree of attention has been given to the selected area. The study was carried out in the swimming pool of Fenerbahce Sports Club (25m). The study was made immediately after the athletes Turkey Championship week is the highest level of performance efficiency and lasted two days. First, the height and weight measurements of the swimmers were recorded with Bosch Laser Meter and Techfit TF 1052 Digital Square Glass Scale. With My Jump 2 application installed on the Iphone 6s smartphone, each swimmer was asked to make a squat vertical jump and the jump height was recorded. After that, the we placed a GoPro Hero 3+ camera to see the start distance and time. From this recording, the distance and time from the start to the moment of hands entering the water was calculated with the Kinovea video analysis program. From the videos taken with the GoPro Hero 3+ action camera, distances and time measured in the X and Z Axis, and the vector average was calculated. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 16.0 program and the relationship between squat jump and grab start performance was investigated. In our study, there was a positive correlation between vertical jump performance and grab start performance of swimmers (P <0.05). As a result, it was concluded that the grab start time of the swimmer with good explosive power was shortened but did not affect the distance. Keywords: Swimming, performance, squat jump, grab start
