Abstract (EN)
This study was to determine of parents regarding the adherence to the treatment of children with epilepsy and their level of knowledge about their illness. The study's universe is composed of 125 epileptic children and their parents who are followed up in the Ankara Neurology Policlinic of Ankara Education and Research Hospital with the diagnosis of epilepsy. As the data collection tool in the research, 11 questions questioning the introductory characteristics of epileptic children and their parents; A questionnaire consisting of 19 questions evaluating the compliance of the treatment was drawn up. 'Epilepsy Information Scale for Parents' was used to evaluate epilepsy information of parents with epilepsy. For the data evaluotion of the study number, percent, mean, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test and Sperman correlation tests have been used. In this study, the mean age of 125 children with epilepy was 11 (min-max: 2-19), and the average age of the parents was 37 years (min-max: 22-56). 56.8% of the sick children (n = 71) were male. In our study, it was determined that 24.2% (n = 30) of the parents applied for non-drug treatment for treatment. It was found that the level of education of the parents differed according to the level of education (p = 0.001). When the seizures were over, the parents who did not release the drugs had higher information scores than the parents who did not, but the difference was not significant at the border (p = 0.055). The median number of points 12 parents information epilepsy scale (min-max:6-17) were found. Treatment compliance of our study group was found high.
