Abstract (EN)

In the Ottoman scholarly tradition, exegeses based on Sufi interpretations play an important role in gaining a deeper understanding of the divine truths of the Qur'an. This study focuses on the work of Saîd b. İsmail el-Mavîlî es-Sehranî ed-Diyarbekirî, a Kurdish scholar from the late Ottoman period, which has not been the subject of any scholarly examination to date. entitled 'er-Risâletü'l-Fethiyyetü'l-Mahmudiyye fî Beyâni'l-Merâtibi'l-Celîleti'l-'Aliyye fî Beyâni-l Merâtibi-l Celîleti-l'Aliyye.' The work was written on the Nasr Surah, one of the shortest surahs of the Qur'an, and presents a multifaceted example of exegesis in both its apparent and esoteric (mystical) aspects. The study examines the author's life, the content of the work, its sources, methodology, and approach to exegesis. In the introduction to his treatise, the author states that he will divide his work into two sections: the path of the people of kal/zahir (the people of the letter) and the path of the people of hal/batin (the people of the spirit). He places particular emphasis on the method of ishari exegesis, approaching the Qur'an from a Sufi perspective and pointing to deep spiritual meanings beyond the literal expressions in the surah. The treatise also includes Sufi concepts such as Wahdat al-Wujud and Haqq al-Muhammadiyya, and the surah is interpreted within the framework of these concepts. The only copy of the work, which is believed to have been written by the author himself and is housed in the Egyptian National Library, was used as the basis for this study. The copy was carefully reviewed, spelling and transcription errors were noted, and references to verses and hadiths were provided. In this way, the text has been made scientifically accessible, and its place in the classical exegesis heritage has been determined. This thesis aims to reveal the scientific knowledge of a little-known name in the Ottoman exegesis tradition and makes a unique contribution to the independent exegesis literature on Surah Nasr.
