Abstract (EN)
Adolescence is a complex process with significant changes in biological, psychological and environmental factors. The habitual environment, social relations and family relations are restructured with the development of abstract thinking, which is a characteristic of the period, and are re-experienced with a number of adaptation processes. The need for increased autonomy especially during this period, also brings about a number of changes in their relationship with parents. Therefore, parenting practices are of great importance during adolescence. The aim of this thesis is to examine the relations between the psychological control and autonomy support perceived by the adolescent and the developmental consequences of loneliness, aggression and positive social behaviors in terms of social problem solving skills.A total of 724, 365 women and 359 men whose ages are between 15 and 17, were chosen by random means from public schools in Tunceli and Kayseri. The study included the UCLA Loneliness Scale, Psychological Control Scale, Autonomous Support Scale, Positive Social and Aggressive Behavior Scale and Interpersonal Problem Solving Inventory. According to the results obtained from the research analyses, the basic effect of gender and age was found to be significant, but the common effect of gender and age was not significant. Further analyses based on basic effect of gender showed that the psychological control that men perceive from their parents is higher than that of women, whereas the autonomy support that women perceive from their parents is higher than that of men. The analysis to determine whether the psychological control and autonomy support perceived by adolescents from parents differs according to family income status( low, lower-middle,middle, and upper middle) found that the basic effect of family income is significant. Ultimately, perceived autonomy support from father states that the lower income group of adolescents on middle-income adolescents detect low; similarly perceived autonomy support from the father of middle-income level of adolescents with under middle and middle low income levels, it was determined that adolescents with higher detects. As a result, the autonomy support perceived by adolescents with different income levels increased compared to the increase in the income levels of the family. The Pearson Correlation Coefficient between the variable discussed in the study was calculated and examined. As a result, adolescents who perceive psychological control from their parents are more aggressive, feel lonely and are less successful in social problem solving, on the other hand adolescents who receive autonomy support from their parents are more positive in social behaviors and have higher social problem solving skills. According to the Structural equality model results, on the other hand it was determined that men who received autonomy support from their parents had higher social problem solving skills and therefore exihibited more positive social behaviors and less aggressive behavior . Women who perceive psychological control from their parents have low social problem solving skills and feel more alone at the same time more aggressive behavior was found. İt was determined that women who received autonomy support from their parents have high social problem solving skills and therefore feel less alone.
