Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research; social anxiety levels of adolescents and self-esteem perceptions. Anxiety is defined as a state of meaningless anxiety and fear in the presence of somatic symptoms. It is called "Social Anxiety" when the individual feels fear or anxiety in response to a social event or situation that is assessed by other people.Satisfying the need for positive evaluation and acceptance by the community helps people develop self-esteem in a positive way.Anxiety has an adverse effect in addition to positive psychological development on individuals. How effective is positive, negative, or negative function on self-esteem perceptions? This question is sought in the research. This research also benefited from adolescents aged 11-14 in Istanbul. The research population consisted of 431 students who were studying at Mehmetçik Secondary School located in Üsküdar district of Istanbul in 2017-2018.According to the sample of the study, the universe was formed by 256 students who were educated in Mehmetçik Secondary School according to a certain sample account. The sample was selected from the sample while the sample was selected from the sample."Demographic Information Form" was filled in the sample group to determine whether the relationship has changed according to the socio-demographic variables such as sex, class levels, socio-economic levels of the people. In order to measure social anxiety in the adolescents, validity and reliability studies were conducted by Akın (2007) in order to measure the level of self-esteem and "Social Anxiety Scale for Ergens" (ESKÖ) adapted to Turkish by making validity and reliability study by Aydın and Tekinsav-Sütçü (2007) using the "Self-Confidence Scale". The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS Windows Packet Program using predicted statistical techniques. There was no significant difference when the subscale of self-confidence scale applied to middle school students was evaluated according to the age, the individual who is interested in his / her lectures, the existence of individuals who are interested in the classes and the participation variables. As a result of the evaluation made by considering the sex change, there was no significant difference in terms of gender in the sub-dimension of internal self-confidence, but there was a significant difference in terms of gender in the sub-dimension of external self-confidence. No significant difference was found when the social anxiety scale applied to middle school students was evaluated by taking into account the sub-dimensions of the scale and the individual and gender variables concerned with their lectures. When the social anxiety levels of adolescents change according to their ages and Y-SKHD sub-dimensions are examined; it did not differ according to age. However, when the G-SKHD sub-dimension is examined; a significant difference was found in terms of ages. There is a statistically significant inverse correlation between self-confidence and anxiety scores of the adolescents.
