Analysis of the relationship between cognitive emotional regulation, perceived parental attitudes, perceived social support and psychological health in early adolescence

The present study aims to examine the relationship between cognitive emotional regulation, perceived parental attitudes, perceived social support in early adolescence. The participants of this study are 250 female and males secondary education students from Ankara's Emek area. Their ages ranged in 10 to 15. Demographical Information Form, Cognitive Emotional Regulation Questionnaire, Egna Minnen Betraffande Uppfostran, EMBU; My Memories of Upbringing, Strenght and Difficulties Questionnaire, Short version of Symptom Inventory, Perceived Social Support Scale are used to gather information from participants. Gathered information was analyzed through correlational, multiple analyis of varience and regressional analysis. As a results of the study, adolescents using more catasrophizing experienced more psychological symptoms and behavioral and emotional problems. Similarly, adolescents using more self blame had more psychological symptoms. Also, adolescents perceiving more rejection from their mothers and more over protection from their fathers had more psychological symptoms and more behavioral and emotional problems. Association between cognitive emotional regulation and psychological health was observed. It was observed that perceived more family support associated with having less psychological symptoms and less behavioral and emotional problems. Findings of the present study was discussed in the light of literature.
