New functional proposals in the context of protection of the old Gumushane Hızır İlyas neighborhood

Süleymaniye District was an important center of the period. Over time, due to the depletion of mineral reserves, the termination of the privileges of the workers working there, and the wars, it lost its urban identity and assumed a rural identity. Architectural artifacts from the past to the present have turned into cultural heritage with their remains. Within the scope of the thesis; 20 of 28 buildings in total in Hızır Ilyas District, which is one of the 13 Districts of Old Gumushane, are being examined. First of all, literature research on the subject was made and then a field study was carried out. In order to make a general evaluation of the study area, 3d terrain modeling was created by transferring it to the Agisoft PhotoScan Professional program using a drone. In addition to this information, building tags were created by following the site plan, photo analysis and sketches, and information about their current status was collected. In the findings section, the architectural features of the buildings and the current situation analyzes were carried out. As a result of these analyses, some buildings deemed suitable for the protection of buildings were given new functions and their sustainability was ensured. In line with the data obtained, it was mentioned that since it is a 3rd Degree Natural and Urban Site, interventions should be considered both at the building scale and at the environmental scale. Function suggestions are presented for sample creation in the field, and rehabilitative reuses are suggested as an example.
