Abstract (EN)

Since the existence of humanity, many different instruments have been produced and these instruments have become a part of the music made by human beings. Both the change of cultures and the development of technology have caused the instruments to change and develop from past to present and some of them to disappear. Baglama, which has its roots in Central Asia and has a very old history in the musical culture of the Turkish people, has a great importance in the performance and teaching of Turkish folk music. In terms of being the basic instrument of Turkish folk music, producing the bağlama in certain standards as well as its performance stands out as an issue that needs to be considered in order to transfer Turkish folk music from generation to generation. This study was conducted to reveal the techniques used by Eskişehir baglama producers in baglama production, how baglama has been made so far, and what an approach should be that reconciles and integrates traditional and scientific principles in baglama production. In addition, in terms of the content of the study, written sources regarding the historical process of baglama and its general characteristics were examined and included in this research. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven baglama producers in Eskişehir. The obtained qualitative data were analyzed with content analysis. The findings have showed that the materials and techniques used by baglama producers in baglama production are largely similar, but the sizes and proportions may differ. Finally, the obtained results are presented and practical recommendations are presented.
