Abstract (EN)
The establishment and morphological development of cities takes place depending on many variables, including physical, human and economic. The city of Etimesgut was established in 1928 as a model village settlement near the historical train station in order to represent the modern face of the republican regime on the vacant lands to the west of Ankara city center and for the resettlement of our citizens who came to our country through exchange from Bulgaria. The city of Etimesgut is a district center of the province of Ankara, located in the Upper Sakarya Section of the Central Anatolia Region. The city of Etimesgut, which constitutes the research area, is one of the central districts of the Ankara metropolis with a total area of 10,300 hectares in the west of Ankara. The city of Etimesgut has been affected by the urbanization movements in our country, like the city of Ankara, to which it is administratively affiliated. Although the city was founded on an agricultural function, it developed health, military, industry and service sectors in a very short time and got rid of its agricultural function. The foundations of the city were laid with 52 households within the scope of the model village. Since the 1950s, the model village and the city around it started to develop. While the city showed a development with shanty houses until the 1990s, between 1990 and 2010 the slums were replaced by apartment buildings. Urban settlements are born, develop and reach a certain maturity like living organisms. With this study, the physical, human and economic structure of the city, as well as the morphological transformation stages that it has gone through from its foundation to the present, have been determined and evaluated.
