Abstract (EN)

Biochar or biological charcoal is a product that obtained by carbonization of organic wastes with heat treatment in an oxygen-free environment. This material gains different properties depending on the raw material used and its production temperature. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of production temperature on plant growth and nutrient uptake of strawberry plants. The study was carried out as a pot experiment using five different biochar produced at 340, 380, 420, 460 and 500 degrees, 3 different doses as 0, 4000 and 8000 kg ha-1 and 3 replications, using rose pulp. Basic fertilization was performed in all pots as 100 mg kg-1 N, 150 mg kg-1 P2O5, and 150 mg kg-1 K2O were given with planting. After the beginning of flowering, 100 mg kg-1 N was repeated. The results of the study showed that the temperature used in biochar production was effective on the development and nutrient uptake of strawberry plant. Yield values were positively affected by both temperature and dose treatments. The results showed that the lowest and highest temperatures selected in this trial, 340 and 500 degrees, generally had a negative effect on determined parameters. It was concluded that 380, 420 and 460 degrees temperatures would be beneficial in biochar production from rose pulp.
