Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the ideal irrigation schedule for watermelon grown using the drip irrigation technology in semi-arid climate conditions in Midyat in 2021. The study was carried out in randomized blocks in a split plot design with 3 replications. Two different watering intervals (D1: 3 days; D2: 6 days) were the primary topics and four various irrigation levels were the subtopics in this study, which used a drip irrigation method. Different irrigation levels were established based on open water surface evaporation ratios of I1:50%, I2:75%, I3:100%, and I4:125% from Class A Pan. During the research season, D1 participants were provided water a total of 22 times (15 times based on class A pan), while D2 subjects obtained water a total of 14 times (7 times based on class A pan). The results of the experiment showed that irrigation levels, irrigation intervals, and their interactions all significantly affected watermelon yield. The highest yield was obtained from D1-I4 with 7 380 kg da-1. 721.9 mm of irrigation water was applied to this subject and the water consumption was 716.9 mm. While the amount of irrigation water applied has a significant impact on all watermelon quality criteria such as fruit weight (MA), fruit number (MS), fruit skin thickness (MKK), fruit width (ME), fruit length (MB), water-soluble dry matter amount (SSKM), fruit volume (MH), irrigation day interval significantly affected other quality criteria (0.01≤P or 0.05≤P) except MKK and SÇKM. In the trial subjects, the irrigation water usage efficiency (IWUE) ranged from 7.00 kg m-3 to 10.33 kg m-3, and the water usage efficiency (WUE) of the subjects ranged from 7.34 kg m-3 to 10.88 kg m-3.
