Abstract (EN)

It is accepted that calorie restriction or exercise has positive effects on health risk. However, it is not clear which of the different types of exercise combined with calorie restriction may be more effective on body parameters and how much they affect health risks. The aim of our study is to investigate the effects of 12-week calorie restriction and different exercise programs (Fitness & trekking) on body parameters in light weight young boys. Before the study, 60 overweight healthy young adult men (22-29 years old) were divided into 3 groups: Group 1: Diet+Fitness Exercise Group; Group 2: Diet+Hiking Group; Group 3: Only Diet Group. Exercise groups were exercised 3 days a week for 60 minutes (60mins\3days\12Weeks) for 12 weeks. No exercise was given to the group that only followed a diet. At the end of the 12-week study, the anthropometric effects of different exercise types on the body, changes in muscle strength and 6-minute walking performance were examined. When the findings were examined, a difference was found between the pretest and posttest parameters of all groups in body weight, body mass index, body fat weight loss and body fat rate at the end of 12 weeks (p>0.05). While the values of Group 1 increased in skeletal muscle weight, there was a decrease in Groups 2 and 3. Basal Metabolism was preserved in Group 1 and the greatest decrease was in Group 3. Group 2 was the best group in gait performance, there was no difference between Group 1 and Group 1. As a result; calorie restriction causes weight loss in overweight individuals; however, these losses may increase with walking and resistance exercise. While the greatest loss was in the resistance exercise group, it can be interpreted that while muscle strength is preserved in this group, basal metabolic rate is also preserved together with muscle strength, which leads to an increase in weight loss.
