Occupational health and safety sight of assessment who trainees of MEKSA-GESOP Apprentıceship Traınıng Center In Gazıantep

This research has been done between the students who are studying at Apprenticeship Training Center in Gaziantep. The purpose of the research is analysing the situation of the students about awareness of occupational health and safe, possibility of work accidents and dizzies related with their profession. A questionnaire has been applied to randomly selected 969 of 1935 students who have been studying at Apprenticeship Training Center in Gaziantep during March and April 2010. According to the results it has been found out that %79.2 is male, %42.5 is ages of 18-19, %89.8 is single, %56.4 is primary level educated, %57.8 of the participants income is equal to their outcome, %54.8 of have a nuclear family. %32 of those students are in their first year, %45,1 of them are hairdresser, %61,7 have started working between ages of 11 and 15, %50,8 has preferred their profession with their own decision and %84,5 of the participants chose their job because they have the ability, %73,5 is happy with their profession. Moreover the results show that, %76,8 of the participant students thinks that their working environment is well enough. %71.9 of them works 11 and 15 hours and % 25 gains between 251 ? 300 TL. On the other hand, %80.1 have not had a health check and healthy report before start working, %93.5 do not have a health check periodically, %69.7 do not have an insurance, %41 of them works without appretices agreement. Furthermore %83.8 of the participants comes to the Centre for having the certificate in order to be able to establish their own atelier, %83.4 of them thinks the duration of the education is enough. %46.5 of the students has been oriented to the Centre via their masters and %69.9 of them attends to classes well. %59.4 can apply the things which they learned. %58.4 of the students has supplied security elements in their working environment and %43.7 of them always uses supplied security elements. According to the answers from the questionnaire, it has been seen that, %39.9 of the worker students knows the meaning of work accident and most of the times, accidents occurs on the machines and on worktops. The results shows that %40 of the participants does not know workers rights, % 64.8 of them has not have a work accident and %87.9 of them have not have any dizzies related with their profession. On the other hand, % 49.6 have not heard about dizzies caused by their job. It has been seen that %49 of the participants have the risk of dizzies related with their job. Moreover %59.4 of the students has not have OHS training and there is not any application on OHS training in working environment of %72 of the participants. %39 of the workers bosses applies all the security needs for working, %56 of the workers goes to the government hospital in case of health problems but there is not any medical staff at the working places of %86.5 of the participants and %72 of them do not know what is OHS comity. Moreover %69.8 of the participants work in places where there is no control for any kind of need of the work environment but %79.2 of them has not been punished at work.
