Abstract (EN)

This study was done as a descriptive to determine the opinions and behaviors of pregnant women in the third trimester of pregnancy related to coitus. The universe included women who were admitted to the Gynecology Clinic of the Necip Fazıl City Hospital in Kahramanmaraş. A sample of 240 women out of 11001 were calculated and 320 women who accepted to be in the study included. For the data collection, a survey form was used. The first part of the survey form asked the participants for socio- demographic and obstetric information. In the second part, the questions were related to sexuality during pregnancy.Data collection was done between 1 March and 30 June, 2015.The data were coded and input in the SPSS for Windows 15,0 (statistical program for social sciences) for analysis.Categorical measures were reported as mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum numbers and percentages.Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests were used for the comparison between groups of categorical measurement.Statistically significant relationship was found between women's sexual behavior during pregnancy and age, occupation, education level, spouse's education level, monthly income, length of marriage, gestational age (p < 0.05). As a result, it was found that pregnant women had incorrect information related to sexuality during pregnancy which is associated with a decrease in sexual behavior of pregnant women. Professional education towards changing these incorrect information and behavior by health professionals for women and their partners is recommended.
