Abstract (EN)

With advancements in construction and design techniques, traditional buildings constructed in the post-industrial revolution era have become a burden for modern cities due to their high energy demands and environmentally harmful emissions. Today, these buildings consume substantial amounts of energy in order to preserve their functionality, user comfort, and sustainability. The growing demand for energy necessitates the adoption of innovative techniques that enhance the quality and performance of buildings. Architectural facades play a vital role as the first line of defense for buildings and constitute a key element in shaping the visual identity of cities. Consequently, the exploration of innovative facade techniques has become indispensable. At present, many cities exhibit a monotonous and uninspiring appearance that does not correspond with modern technology and urban character. This situation underscores the urgent need for creative and efficient design solutions—not only to achieve a more aesthetically appealing appearance, but also to promote sustainability, improve energy efficiency, and respond to the future requirements of urban environments. The evaluation of alternative materials in construction is of considerable importance. Employing such materials enables the development of advanced and energy-efficient facade applications. The integration of new concepts into building design contributes to the advancement of sustainable architectural practices. Revisiting material and production strategies is therefore essential to foster environmentally friendly and energy-saving solutions. This process aims to enhance both building performance and user satisfaction. This research seeks to provide a comprehensive analysis of architectural facades and to examine modern construction techniques developed through contemporary scientific advancements. As part of the study, a real building located in Diyarbakır was analyzed. This building was re-designed as a model prioritizing energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and the enhancement of building quality within the framework of the TS 825 standard valid in Turkey. The study ultimately aims to propose an advanced structure that minimizes environmental impact, ensures spatial comfort for users, reduces energy consumption, and enriches the identity of the city through both aesthetic and functional values.
