SWOT analysis application in solar power plant operations: The example of Buharkent Municipality

In order to prevent climate change, which is one of the most important problems of the world, the orientation towards renewable energy sources has accelerated. One of the reasons for the increase in investment in renewable energy sources is the energy supply security of the countries. Energy supply, which can be used as a threat in political crises between countries, can directly affect countries economically. For this reason, the search for new energy sources has increased. Turkey is a foreign-dependent country in terms of energy and is faced with an economic burden. Since energy imports are an important burden in the foreign trade balance and it is clean energy, the orientation towards renewable energy sources has increased in recent years. Our country has a high energy potential due to its geographical location and structure, and when this potential is maximized, it will reduce foreign dependency and make a great contribution. Since cash-increasing activities in the budget in local governments will increase the service and therefore the welfare at the same rate, investment in renewable energy resources will provide benefits in terms of foreign trade and energy supply security of the country as well as social welfare. In this study, it has been tried to explain that renewable energy investment in local governments is quite profitable, and the profitability of the investment is tried to be explained with financial and SWOT analyzes.
