Determination of quality characteristics of some trifolium taxa growing in meadow-pastures and natural vegetations in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey

The aim of this study is to determine quality characters of some Trifolium taxa collected in natural lands of Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. Obtained results were ranged from lowest to highest for crude protein values %13.82-23.41, dry matter values %90.93-92.44, acid detergent fiber (ADF) values %17.66-35.49, acid detergent protein (ADP) values 0.7-1.12, neutral detergent fiber (NDF) values %33.68-51.23, digestible dry matter (DDM) values %61.26-75.14, dry matter ıntake (DMI) values %2.34-3.56, relative feed values (RFV) 112.8-207.6. The best values were found in T. nigrescens subsp. petrisavii for ADF, NDF, SKM, KMT, NYD; in T. pauciflorum for crude protein and in T. echinatum for ADP. In terms of the mineral materials, phosphor (P) ranged from 0.25-0.47%, potassium (K) 1.23-3.74%; calcium (Ca) 1.33-2.14% and magnesium (Mg) 0.27-0.37%. The higher value for Mg in Trifolium spumosum, T. pilulare, T. pauciflorum, T. hirtum, T. diffusum, T. speciosum, T. cherleri, T. tomentosum, T. nigrescens subsp. petrisavii, T. scutatum, T. tenuifolium, T. bocconei and T. globosum, for P in T. aintabense, T. nigrescens subsp. petrisavii and T. pauciflorum, for K in T. aintabense; for Ca in T. sylvaticum were determined. When the Trifolium taxa are examined for quality standards, T. aintabense, T. globosum, T. nigrescens subsp. petrisavii and T. pauciflorum was in the Prime group, which is the highest value for all investigated properties. In conclusion, when we compare all taxa for quality characters; the highest values for ADF, NDF, DDM, DMI, RFV, Mg and P were obtained from T. nigrescens subsp. petrisavii; the highest crude protein, Mg and P values from T. pauciflorum. In addition, each taxa take place in Prime group all examined parameters considering quality standards.
