Flute in music departments of fine arts high schools technical study programs of students receiving training and a review on technical work awareness

Music is a universal language in which emotions and thoughts can be expressed with the help of sounds. Although each country's own musical language differs from each other, it basically served the same purpose. But the basic theory of music is unshakable and unchangeable. Educators and institutions that provide music education are needed in order to learn the theory of music, that is, the language of music, to learn an instrument and to become a music educator. Various educational institutions have been opened to meet this need. There are institutions providing vocational music education in many countries. These can be mainly categorized as Fine Arts High Schools and universities providing music education. Students studying music in fine arts high schools in Türkiye must choose an instrument. Among these instruments, the flute is also seen in the wind instruments category. Flute education, like the education of any instrument, requires discipline, perseverance and technical awareness. Since technical information on the flute is learned and applied gradually, regular technical practice and repetition will help the student advance. However, the student must carry out general technical studies before studying any work. In this way, he will prepare his body for playing a piece. A technical study program should be created according to the students' individual characteristics and lesson plans. The educator should take part in determining student levels, and the student should take part in creating a technical study program. Based on this idea, the research aimed to examine the technical work awareness levels of students studying flute in the music departments of fine arts high schools in our country. Survey model was used in the research and the population of the research consists of all flute students studying in 87 Fine Arts High Schools in Türkiye and all flute teachers teaching. The sample of the research is Aksaray Fine Arts High School, Ankara Fine Arts High School, Antalya ATSO Fine Arts High School, Aydın Yüksel Yalova Fine Arts High School, Isparta Fine Arts High School, Konya Cement Fine Arts High School, Kırşehir Fine Arts High School, Tokat Fine Arts High School, which were determined by simple random method. High School, Van Fine Arts High School, Bursa Zeki Müren Fine Arts High School and 10 teachers and 70 students in these educational institutions. A survey was used as the data collection tool. Various field articles and studies using surveys were examined to collect data. The applied survey was created with Likert type and open-ended questions. The data obtained from the prepared measurement tool was digitized using the evaluation scale. Within the scope of the research, percentage-frequency analysis was used to determine the distribution of the participants' answers to the survey questions. At the same time, mean, mode and median values were calculated to evaluate the participants' level of agreement with the statements in the survey. The analyzes were evaluated using the SPSS 25.0 statistical package program and were shown and interpreted statistically with tables expressing frequency (f) and percentage (%) distribution. Content analysis was performed on the open-ended questions used in the survey. majority of the students were aware of the technical studies they would do before working on the piece and applied the technical studies, and they also had technical study programs. It has been revealed that there are studies, series and scale studies, articulation studies, tone and arpeggio studies, solfeggio study, analysis of the work, listening to the work, obtaining information about the period of the work, paying attention to the metronome, and studies for body comfort. In line with the quantitative analysis of the answers given to the teacher survey, teachers included technical studies in the flute lessons they taught with the students, the lessons progressed in line with the technical studies, and in line with the qualitative analysis, the studies they had their students do before having them study were diaphragm, diaphragm study, long voice study, scale study, scale study, arpeggio study, It has been concluded that there are articulation study, bona of the work, solfege of the work, listening of the work, sampling of the work by the teacher, information about the period of the work, nuance study, metronome study and musicality study.
