Abstract (EN)
History, which is the yesterday of the changing present, has a very important place in understanding the past, evaluating the present and constructing the future by interpreting it. Women are an indispensable element of societies no matter what age they are. Women have always existed in all parts of life, both as objects and actively subjects of discourses and experiences. The desire to explore the presence and testimonies of women in history holds an important place in the research of their contributions to society and history. Since it is an undeniable fact that women also have a history, they have contributed to the birth of a field in which the positions of women in the range of different roles, meanings and responsibilities in the cultural process, where they also have a history, such as men, states, events, are explored. In this study, elements such as women's social positions and responsibilities, perspectives on events and contributions to life in European, Eastern Roman and Turkish-Islamic societies during the Crusades Period, which is one of the most important events in history, have been tried to be put forward within the framework of cultural and social differences. By focusing on how different cultures, beliefs and lifestyles affect women's experiences in life and women's roles, the social position of women during the Crusades Period was tried to be evaluated. In addition, by trying to reveal the environment that prepared the Crusades and the profile of women in this environment, on this basis, the situation of women during the expeditions, usually women as silent witnesses and insufficiently invisible actors of the expeditions, has been investigated and the history of the Crusades has been tried to be looked at from a new angle. As a matter of fact, by mentioning the characteristics of the environment in which the expeditions were carried out, the conditions of the period and the contributions of women living in these conditions to the past and society were tried to be made visible. In this context, the social position, status, roles and responsibilities of European, Eastern Roman and Turkish-Islamic women during the expeditions and wars, common and different characteristics and even opposite aspects were stated.
