Political criticism of the Republican period in Halide Edib Adıvar

Halide Edib Adıvar, one of the important literati of the Republican era, was a writer who lived between 1882 and 1964 and witnessed the important moments of history. In addition to his authorship, Adıvar was also deemed worthy of titles such as teacher, journalist, soldier and politician. However, instead of being mentioned with his literary identity and contributions in the national struggle, he came to the agenda mostly through political thought and was criticized by different sections. For this reason, the main purpose of this study is to examine Halide Edib's political criticism in the Republican era and to respond to many differences of opinion regarding the political mindset. In the first chapter, the life of Halide Edib is included in the first chapter in order to understand the effects of the social environment and education life on which it is included, on its political thought structure. In the second part, by focusing on the general political and social appearance in the Republican period, important political events covering 1918-1945 were examined and Halide Edib's approach to these situations was handled through several important events. In the last part of the study, the works of Halide Edib were evaluated and the political thought structure in the Republican period was tried to be enlightened. In addition, different opinions about the political thought of Halide Edib were tried to be brought together and new critical approaches were paved. it was concluded that Halide Edib has a nationalist attitude, advocates Mandateism, but her ideas on this issue change over time and most of the reforms are positive, see many as early decisions and want a democratic Republic even if they see the Republic as a must, that the Republic believed that it would be nothing more than a long-term party dictatorship.
